as poume (let’s say)
Eleni Christou is a Creative Producer, living and working on Gadigal and Dharug Land Sydney, Australia. Her practice is centred around community collaboration, ancestral re-collection and the local. Eleni grew up between Cyprus and Australia and her pappou’s kreopoleio (butchery) in Nicosia was a place of formative culinary production and memory for her.
Through kafe as poume, Eleni reimagines social ritual in an informal and neighbourhood context. In other words, it’s just coffee on the street, as poume.
Eleni has been curating and producing for over a decade among community spaces, museums, kitchens and the neighbourhood. Eleni has undertaken residencies in Kos, Crete, Nicosia and Sydney.
Eleni holds a Masters of Applied Anthropology from Macquarie University.
