Siga, Siga // Slowly, Slowly

Through the intertwined and everyday rituals of weaving and shelling, Lauren Mavromati and Eleni Christou initiated a dialogue rooted in reimagining ancestral practice, nourishing the knowledge lost across generations, disconnecting and connecting Cyprus and Australia. Speaking about the space between islands / between generations / between (former??) colonies and moments of silliness found in the process. A gathering and performance via a whatsapp voicemail soundscape, mixed media projections, peanut shelling and immersive weaving.

Xarkis Festival, September 2024.
