‘as poume’ meaning ‘Iet’s say’ or informally; ‘for example’. In Cyprus, ‘as poume’ is unique for its frequent use, versatility and flexibility of expression.
Channelling the spirit of the Kafenio, (traditional Cypriot cafe), and the role domestic kitchens and cafes play in the social fabric of communities, Eleni reimagines social and cultural ritual in an informal and neighbourhood context.
As Kafe As Poume, Eleni produces projects that promote creative expression and meaningful encounters with a focus on cross-cultural and intergenerational participation. Eleni is also a co-founding member of the New Moon community art collective.
Eleni’s practice navigates institutional and voluntary modes of identity while exploring nostalgia, human movement, belonging and existing in a third space.
Eleni holds a Masters of Applied Anthropology from Macquarie University, with an ethnographic approach informing her practice.

Things We Miss postal zine
In 2020, Kim Siew and I made a little project called Things We Miss where we invited community to help us prepare labour intensive dishes over a number of days in the lead up to a communal feast.
During the 2021 lockdown, we made a zine of the original recipes plus some new ones, including vegan pastry, gluten free sweets, luscious beans and so many more! Nestled among the recipes are moments of play, pause and discovery. Because they are just as important as eating!
